Orlando Shows and Year-end wrap (December, 2018)
In Florida, Frankie had a strong showing, with two Selects, a Best of Opposite, and an Award of Excellence at the Royal Canin AKC National Championship. Frankie ends the year as the 11th ranked PWD (Breed points). We are very proud of Frankie, and thankful for Amy Rutherford’s care and handling. Frankie can now look forward to motherhood in 2019 and as you can see by her retirement picture (at right), she is very happy and all smiles!
Summer Days 2018
May 2018 Wrap-up
Spring 2018 (April, 2018)
Winter 2018 shows: the Pacific Northwest and California (March 9, 2018)
One of the highlights was The Beverly Hills show (which will be televised on NBC April 1). Saturday March 3, Frankie was Best of Breed under Judge Arlene Davis, and Sunday March 4 she and Amy did one better by earning Best of Breed and a Group Fourth under Judge Judith Daniels. What a great birthday present for Frankie!
As of the end of February, Frankie is the tenth-ranked PWD (breed points) in the country. We are very proud of her and grateful to Amy Rutherford for her beautiful presentation of Frankie.
Year’s End: December Florida shows and AKC National Championship (Dec., 2017)
The whole Surfari crew traveled to Florida for the week of shows in Orlando, including three all-breed shows, the Central Florida Working group show on Friday December 15, culminating in the AKC National Championship on the 16th and 17th. Frankie and Amy had a great week, with Frankie earning Select Bitch four out of the five days. The USSPWD supported entry on Friday featured beautiful trophies for which we thank the club (see left picture). We had a great week, staying again at Ft. Wilderness on Disney property, and enjoying the company of Lew and Casey Ingram and Frankie’s brother Jags.
On the way to Florida, we stopped in snowy(!) Gulfport, MS and the Mississippi Gulf Coast KC shows. Frankie and Mike earned a Group Fourth on Sunday, under judge Robin Stansell.

Woofstock 2017 (June 8-11 2017)
Frankie enjoyed a successful weekend at her first (the 10th annual) Woofstock! On Friday, Frankie and Mike went Select Bitch and Best of Breed Owner-Handled under Judge Cindy Stansell, and then onto an OH Group Second under Breeder-judge Cathy Dugan. Frankie showed the rest of the weekend with Amy Rutherford, going Select Bitch on Saturday (PWDCNC Supported Entry), and Best of Breed on Sunday under Judge Henry “Hank” Williams! Frankie New Champion! (Conejo KC/Angeles Canyon DC, April. 20 – 23 2017)
The Surfari kids visited Southern California for the shows in City of Industry, and had a lot of fun and success! Frankie Finished her championship in style, earning a Best of Breed from the Bred-by class under respected Judge Dana Cline on Thursday, April 20! On Friday, Frankie took Breed again, her first time as a Champion, and also earned a Group Third under Judge Keke Kahn (lower left). After a Best of Opposite on Saturday, Frankie again earned a Best of Breed under Judge Linda Stevens, visiting from Australia (lower right). A very successful weekend for Frankie, along with brother Jags and friend Spencer.
Frankie finished with four major wins (and the Best of Breed), all from the Bred-by class, at the age of 13 months.
Heart of the Desert Classic (Feb. 2-6 2017)
Frankie had another fantastic weekend in Arizona. This five-day cluster included two Sweepstakes (Thursday with the Working Dog Club of Arizona, and Saturday at Sahuaro State KC), and a Supported entry courtesy of the Rio Salgado PWD Club on Saturday. Frankie earned Best in Sweepstakes on both of the days (and brother Jags took Best Opposite!). Thursday’s Sweeps judge was Ms. Heathyr Aguilar, while Saturday’s Sweeps judge was accomplished PWD Breeder Ms. Martha Thomas (below left photo). We are very honored that Martha chose Frankie!
The other shows went very well, also, with Frankie picking up two more majors: Saturday with Judge Marjorie Martorella (left photo), and Monday with Judge Connie Alexander (lower right photo). Frankie is now a single point from her Conformation Championship!
Sunday, Frankie earned Best Bred-By PWD, and went on to earn a BBE Group First in the big ring! Frankie was playful and expressive and had a lot of fun!
The trophies and prizes that the Rio Salgado club supplied on Saturday were simply amazing. Thanks to the club for their hospitality and generosity!
Kennel Club of Palm Springs (Jan. 8, 2017)
Frankie earned Winners Bitch and Best of Winners in Indio on Sunday, Jan. 8 under judge Kimberly Meredith Cavanna! This is a very gratifying win for us as Judge Cavanna has also recognized Frankie’s mother Avery as well as Grandma Missy and awarded them major wins. KCPS is a beautiful venue and this win made the weekend truly special.
San Joaquin County KC (Nov. 27, 2016)
Judge Sandra Pretari Hickson chose Frankie as her Winners Bitch and Best of Winners in Stockton on Sunday, Nov. 27. Frankie and Mike also earned Best of Breed Owner-Handled, and later in the day earned an OH Group Fourth, also under Judge Hickson. Another amazing day for Frankie! We are very proud of her!
